How to Make a Honey Mask for Acne

Acne is typically the result of the accumulation of the natural sebum oil in your skin. This oil along with the bacteria, dead skin cells, and other impurities get infected and emerge in the form of the breakouts and acne. While teenagers are more prone to getting the condition, many adults also continue to develop pimples. Using a honey mask for acne is possibly one of the best solutions. That’s because honey has natural microbial properties that remove the bacteria. At the same time, it can cleanse, hydrate, and nourish your skin but also get rid of the excess sebum in the skin.

Making a Honey Mask for Acne with Other Healing Agents

Applying the honey in its natural form works well. But, you can combine it with other healing ingredients for softer, clearer skin.

Milk, Yogurt, Lemon, and Honey

Combine two tablespoons each of milk and honey along with the juice from a whole lemon and a tablespoon of yogurt into a bowl. Add just enough warm water to get a smooth paste. Apply this layer all over your face and throat and allow to dry. When the first layer dries, add another on top of the previous one. Repeat until the entire mask is used up. Once dry, wash off with warm water and pat dry. The yogurt and milk will work to hydrate your skin while lemon juice is an excellent cleansing agent. And, since the honey can remove the bacteria, you have the perfect organic recipe for clearing acne.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey

Apply two tablespoons of honey all over your face massaging gently. Leave it on for about 40 minutes until dry and then, wash off with warm water. Combine a tablespoon each of apple cider vinegar and water. Mix thoroughly and apply with a cotton ball as a final rinse to watch your skin glow.

Aloe Vera Juice and Honey

Like honey, aloe vera also has antimicrobial properties. For this reason, combining the juice or pulp with honey makes the perfect anti-breakout mask. Aloe vera is also effective for soothing irritated skin and calm any redness, itching, and swelling. Both ingredients also work well to hydrate your skin and prevent excessive dryness.

Tea Tree Oil and Honey

Tea tree oil is highly effective as an antimicrobial and antifungal agent. And, that makes it perfect for clearing the bacteria that cause acne. Combine a couple of drops with a tablespoon of honey and apply evenly all over your skin. While this face mask is organic without any chemicals, tea tree oil can be a potent compound. If you think you might be allergic to it, check with your dermatologist. Also, take care to use the mask right after you prepare to prevent any possible oxidation resulting from air exposure.

Apple and Honey

You can use this combination to prevent or treat acne and also to scrub away dead cells and impurities. That’s because the glycolic acid in apples works to exfoliate your skin. Make a pulp from a medium-sized apple after removing the seeds. Blend with a tablespoon or two of honey to get a paste. Apply on your face right away before the apple starts to oxidize.

Cinnamon Powder and Honey

Cinnamon contains several compounds that work to clear away bacterial infections. These compounds include methyl chavicol, eugenol, beta-caryophyllene, linalool, and cinnamaldehyde. Combine about three to four tablespoons of cinnamon powder with enough honey to make a honey mask for acne. While you can also use cinnamon oil, it can be strong and cause irritation. Before you use this mask, make sure you’re not allergic to cinnamon.

While all the ingredients for each honey mask for acne are organic, it is advisable that you check for any possible allergies before using them.
